2) The main aim of the BIBM is to encourage and develop international co-operation in scientific and technical fields and in all other matters related to the precast concrete industry through co-operation between industrial groups, technicians, scientists and customers.
It encourages the formation of precast concrete associations in the countries where they do not yet exist.
Through its regular contacts with other international trade associations and standardisation bodies, the BIBM works to improve the general image of concrete as construction material and defends the interests of the industry.

3) Der Hauptzweck des BIBM ist die Förderung und Entwicklung der internationalen Zusammenarbeit auf wissenschaftlichem, technischem und auf allen anderen mit der Beton- und Fertigteilindustrie verbundenen Gebieten durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Industrieverbänden, Fachleuten, Wissenschaftlern und Vebrauchern.
Es unterstützt die Gründung von Betonverbänden in Ländern, in denen noch kein Verband besteht.
Das BIBM bemüht sich um die Verteidigung der Interessen der Industrie. Dies geschieht durch regelmäßige Kontakte mit anderen Berufsverbänden und mit Normungsorganisationen.
Das BIBM ist bemüht, den Ruf des Beton als Bauwerkstoff zu verbessen.

2) The bodies of BIBM are : Steering Committee, General Assembly, Technical Commission, Environment Commission and 5 Product Commissions, viz. International Concrete Block Commission - ICBC, International Concrete Pipe Commission - ICPC, International Structural Elements Commission - ISEC, International Street Products Commission - ISPC and International Floorings Commission.

2) The following may become a member of the BIBM : national precast concrete associations; regional or specialist product associations in those countries where there is no overall national association or when the latter is not a member of the BIBM; individual firms in the case of there being no national, regional or specialist product association in a country which is a member of the BIBM and to which they could belong.
