2) The International Construction Information Society (ICIS) is an association of organisations who provide national master specification systems or cost information systems.
Members of the Society benefit from the direct exchange of information and ideas at the Society's annual assembly and working group meetings and through frequent correspondence.
ICIS members are neutral in status (i.e. not political), technically authoritative, and solidly rooted in the construction industry.

Once these issues are identified and the list is comprehensive, ICIS will develop a technical document that will present a collect position on proper development and application of performance specifications.

From these issues, ICIS will develop a technical document that will present the collective position of ICIS members on how to write specifications that are sensitive to the environment.
ICIS is studying the impact of international standards on national specifications. ICIS has identified that the emergence of international standards must be taken into account as the construction industry becomes more of a global business. A technical document will be prepared that will represent the common opinion of its members on how to properly incorporate international standards in national specifications.
ICIS is developing draft tables construction elements and master lists of construction entity parts as an initial step towards development of classification tables for information in the construction industry. These are the first efforts that are planned to expand to several classification tables in support of an emerging international standard on classification of information in the construction industry. Other tables that ICIS is studying to identify critical issues to be resolved are specification work section tables, construction complexes tables, and construction entities tables.
ICIS is establishing a presence on the Internet and its World Wide Web.
ICIS is influencing the development of international standards though participation on technical committees.

3) ICIS prüft die Leistungsanforderungen im Hinblick auf die Erstellung eines Dokuments, in dem die wesentlichen Fragen erörtert werden, die es zu lösen gilt, um diese Spezifizierungsmethode auch tatsächlich anwenden zu können. Sind die Probleme identifiziert und ist die einschlägige Liste unfassend, so wird ICIS ein technisches Dokument erstellen, das die gemeinsame Stellungnahme darstellt bezüglich der Entwicklung und sachgerechten Anwendung der Leistungsspezifikationen.
ICIS studiert die Umweltprobleme, die mittels arteigener Spezifikationspraktiken behandelt werden können. Zunächst gilt es, in dieser Hinsicht die zu lösenden kritischen Probleme zu identifizieren. Auf dieser Grundlage wird ICIS ein technisches Dokument entwickeln, das die gemeinsame Position seiner Mitglieder verkörpert bezüglich der Art und Weise, wie umweltempfindliche Spezifikationen zu erstellen sind. ICIS studiert die Auswirkung von internationalen Normen auf die nationalen Spezifikationen. ICIS hat ermittelt, daß das Aufkommen internationaler Normen bezücksichtigt werden muß angesichts der Tatsache, daß das Bauwesen mehr und mehr ein globaler Wirtschaftsbereich wird. Es soll ein technisches Dokument erarbeitet werden, das den gemeinsamen Standpunkt der Mitglieder zur Frage der sachgerechten Einbeziehung von internationalen Normen in die nationalen Spezifikationen darstellt.
ICIS entwickelt Entwürfe für Tafeln über Bauelemente und Referenzlisten für Bauwerksteile als ersten Schritt zur Entwicklung von Klassifizierungstabellen zur Information der Bauindustrie. Es handelb sich hierbei um einen ersten Ansatz hin zur Ausweitung auf mehrere Klassifizierungstabellen als Unterstützung der aufkommenden internationalen Normung der Information der Bauindustrie. Andere bei ICIS in Arbeit befindlicheListen betreffen noch zu lösende kritische Probleme sowie Tabellen über Spezifikationen von Bauwerksteilen, von komplexen Bauwerken und über wesentliche Bauelemente.
ICIS bereitet seine Anwesentheit im Internet und im World Wide Web vor.
ICIS beeinflusst die Entwicklung internationaler Normen durch Teilnahme an technischen Ausschüssen.

For the changing needs of our members clients, ICIS aims to anticipate and confront the following changes occurring in the construction industry : The strong trend towards international harmonisation of standards and procedures; the increasing functionality and user-friendliness of information used in construction processes; the need to integrate a wide variety of related resource data, particularly drawings, specifications, costs, and product information.
Currently ICIS consists of 16 organisations in 14 countries from four continents.
