Aim
1) L'objectif essentiel de l'IEO est d'établir, maintenir et améliorer de façon constante les normes de qualité de l'industrie de la préservation du bois de l'Europe de l'Ouest.
Il a pour but de mieux faire connaître l'intérêt incontestable du bois traité sous pression et de démontrer, par la pratique et les faits scientifiques, que ses membres fournissent des produits qui sont adaptés à l'environnement et dont l'avantage économique est indéniable pour le grand public.

2) The overriding objective of WEI is to establish, maintain and constantly improve the quality standards of Western Europe's wood preserving industry.
It aims to communicate to all, the real benefits of pressure-treated timber. To demonstrate by practice and scientific facts, that its members supply environmentally friendly products of considerable economic benefit to the community at large.

3) Ein Hauptanliegen des WEI ist die Erstellung, Verbesserung und Erhaltung des Qualitätsstandards der westeuropäischen Holzimprägnierindustrie.
Das WEI will die Vorteile kesseldruck-behandelten Holzes allgemein bekanntmachen und auf Grund von Praxis und wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen beweisen, dass die Mitgliedsfirmen umweltfreundliche Produkte von beträchtlichem wirtschaftlichen Nutzen für die Allgemeinheit liefern.

Organisation
1) Les instances de l'IEO sont le Comité exécutif et l'Assemblée annuelle générale. Il y a également 3 Commissions techniques: "Produits finis et marketing", "Produits de préservation" et "Questions techniques et environnementales".
La présidence est bi-annuelle.

2) The bodies of WEI are the Executive Committee and the Annual General Meeting. There are also 3 Commissions : "Finished products and marketing", "Wood preservatives" and "Technical/Environmental issues".
The Presidency is held for Two years.

3) Die Organe des WEI sind der Exekutiv-Ausschuss und die jährliche Generalversammlung. Es gibt auch 3 technische Ausschüsse : "Fertigprodukte und Marketing", "Holzschutzmittel" und "Technische und Umweltfragen".
Der Vorsitz wechselt zweijährlich.
